At South Devon College we recognise the need for great teachers and assistants who can support the local community. Teaching staff encompass a range of skills and talents and wish to make a positive contribution by sharing their experiences and expertise with others.

Our dedicated tutors have experience working in fields of education and training including contributors for various media and educational organisations, authors of core industry text books, and professional development in new and emerging concepts. You will receive a personal learning plan enabling you to develop and grow in a supportive environment. If you are currently teaching or wish to move into this sector, our courses will help you to enhance your skills, reflect on current ideas and resourcefully investigate the professional opportunities open to you.

Our courses are designed for teaching in the Education and Training Sector, including further education, higher and adult education, sixth form, youth and community services, health and uniformed services, private and training organisations. Adult and community education offers teaching careers for graduates and non- graduates across a varied curriculum.

Teaching Qualifications

These qualifications are for those who work, or would like to work, in the further education and skills sector.

Award in Education and Training Level 3
Pearson Certificate in Education and Training (CET) Level 4
BTEC Diploma in Education and Training Level 5
Academic Professional Apprenticeship Level 7 Teacher in classroom.

 

Teaching Assistant

These qualifications are designed to support you in a teaching assistant role with and includes a Level 3 Certificate option or an apprenticeship route.

Access to Higher Education

If you aspire to study higher education but need lack the necessary qualifications then an access course will help you get there.

Degree programmes at University Centre South Devon

If you would like to specialise in a particular area then University Centre South Devon has foundation degrees and BA(hons) top-up programmes for you to choose from. From there you could study a PGCE with another provider.
