The library is situated at the heart of South Devon College and is accessible over 2 floors. We have over 22,000 books specific to different curriculum areas and 80 bookable PCs that learners can use for their studies. Students are welcome to bring their own devices into the library and we have dedicated laptop areas available on each floor. We also have a Book Nook housing our non-academic collections including; Fiction, Graphic Novels, Biographies, LGBTQ+ resources, Wellbeing support and a Sustainability Hub.
Close integration with the teaching staff ensures a comprehensive and wide range of resources including books, e-books, journals and electronic resources to support learning.
Our helpful and knowledgeable staff are here to help students with finding resources and using the PCs. Specialist staff are also on hand to deliver digital skills training and also provide study skills support such as presentation skills, research techniques and exam preparation.
The Digital Learning Team are based on level 2 of the library and can support you in the use of digital technology including Moodle, Turnitin and Microsoft Teams.
Learning Zones
The Learning Zones enable easy access to over 190 PCs to support study. There are a range of different Learning Zones around the College, each easily accessible with multiple PCs in each location. There are a variety of zones to suit specific needs such as quiet zones, group working zones and bookable meeting/presentation rooms. Zones can be booked by teachers for class use, but students can also book a PC up to 2 weeks in advance so that they can plan their own study programme and guarantee access to a PC.
The Learning Zone logo can be seen around the College to indicate where the Learning Zones are located. Learning Zone bookings can be accessed on the front screen of the virtual learning environment (Moodle) to enable you to book PCs from inside and outside the College.
