“I’ve studied Level 2 Gym Instructor, Level 3 Personal Trainer, Indoor Cycling Instructor, Water Based Fitness Instructor, Circuit’s Instructor, and First Aid here at the College.

“I spoke to a friend about what I wanted to do after the lease of my business was up. She said I have such a love of fitness that maybe I should enquire about the courses here at South Devon College and here I am.

“From the point of first contact via email, to the face-to-face meeting with Simon Holden and Gary Stephens, the whole experience has been a pleasure. The fitness team are a great support and the quality of teaching I received from Simon was outstanding, motivational and inspirational. Classes are fun and you always feel involved and that your opinions are heard and taken into account. I made great friends along the way and there is never a day I ever felt I didn’t want to be here.

“I have just signed up to further my knowledge and level up in the education department by doing my degree in Sports Coaching and Fitness.

“Since becoming qualified I have worked in a number of Gym’s and Leisure Centre’s around Devon. I regularly teach Spinning as I have found a real passion for it and its incredibly rewarding.

“I studied an Access to Higher Education course in Science. I chose South Devon College because it offered the course I needed to achieve my goal of going to university and made the application process very easy.

“The tutors were all amazing, very knowledgeable and friendly. I learnt a lot and I also made some great friends on the way.

“My goal was to go on to study Optometry at university and I did just that. Now, I have a 1st class honours in Optometry and am working as a pre-reg optometrist.

“My advice would be don’t hesitate. There’s so much opportunity for employment and the salary is great too.”
