Sometimes you need help when considering what level to study. Our Helpzone team are always available to explain things in more detail, but to help make things a bit easier, take a look at this guide…

Entry Level Level 1 Level 2 Level 3
What do I need? There are no formal requirements, you just need to show an interest and willingness to succeed. For some courses, you need to be working towards achieving English and maths at a Level 1 standard, whilst others may also require 2 GCSEs at grade D or above, or similar. Level 2 courses typically require between 2 and 5 GCSEs of varying grades or completion of a relevant vocational qualification. An aptitude assessment may also be required. Level 3 courses require a number of GCSEs, usually at higher grades than Level 2, or completion of a relevant vocational qualification. An aptitude assessment may also be required. English and maths will be important.
What can I do next? Successful completing your studies means that you may be able to progress to other College courses. Upon successful completion you could progress to a Level 2 course, or go on to paid employment as part of an apprenticeship. After successfully completing a Level 2 course, you may be able to progress to a Level 3 course, consider a more advanced apprenticeship or gain full-time employment in a junior or entry level role. After successfully completing your course,  you could progress to Higher Education at University Centre South Devon or at a University, or gain full-time employment in your chosen profession.
