This Level 3 Mental Health course is designed to help you develop a deeper understanding of mental health, wellbeing and the skills needed to support others in a variety of settings. Throughout the course, you will learn about the context of mental health, including the history of treatment, key legislation and the shift towards community-based care. You will explore how mental wellbeing can be promoted across different life stages, looking at factors that influence mental health and the strategies people can use to build resilience and maintain wellbeing.
You will also gain an understanding of a range of mental health conditions and how they can affect individuals in different ways. This includes exploring topics such as dual diagnosis, substance misuse, and the connection between physical and mental health. You will examine how mental health is supported within different environments, including the criminal justice system, helping you develop a broader understanding of the challenges individuals may face.
As you progress, you will build the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to work in mental health and wellbeing roles. This includes developing communication, empathy and professional awareness, preparing you for further study or employment within the sector.
