How to Find an Employer

How to Begin Your Apprenticeship Journey

To start an apprenticeship, you’ll need an employer who is willing to support you. Here are some ways to find one:

  • Search Online:

Approach Local Businesses

Many employers are open to taking on apprentices. If you’re aged 16 to 21, highlight that the government will fully fund your apprenticeship – this is a great selling point! For smaller employers (non-levy payers), the government funds 95% of the cost regardless of your age.

Want to Contact Employers Yourself?

If you’re confident reaching out directly, we recommend preparing:

  • A CV and personal statement
  • A clear explanation of the benefits to the employer
  • Any other relevant information that shows your enthusiasm and suitability

Apprenticeships on Offer

Below you can view all the apprenticeships we offer across a range of sectors, including automotive, sport, health, construction and more

Useful Information…

Wages

  • National Minimum Wage for an Apprentice – £7.55 (but most pay more)
  • Once you are 19, and completed the first year of your apprenticeship, you are then entitled to National Minimum Wage for your age. This will depend on your age, so please see this link for further information – National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage rates – GOV.UK

English and maths Requirements

If you are over 19 and haven’t achieved your maths and or English Level 2/GCSE qualifications, it is the choice of your employer whether you complete your Functional Skills alongside your apprenticeship. Please keep in mind that some areas (like Marine and Engineering) still have maths and English at Level2/GCSE as a mandatory entry requirement – so make sure to double check before you apply.
