International Student Exchange

Anchor for Skip to main content accessible link

Each year, the UK Government welcomes applications from academic institutions for the Turing Scheme, a programme offering once-in-a-lifetime international experiences through study or work abroad placements. At South Devon College, we have secured funding for several years and hope to continue submitting successful applications in the future.

Our exchanges include study and/or work experience placements at partner organisations, along with cultural activities. Participants return with new knowledge and improved employability in both the UK and global job markets.

The overall aim is to develop our students’ awareness and aspirations for their employment prospects and further studies.

South Devon College’s learning culture promotes three core values: Ambitious, Inclusive, and Respectful. We are committed to providing high-quality teaching and learning with comprehensive progression routes. The College has therefore highlighted an important need to develop a more internationally relevant curriculum and raise awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals through student exchange.

The Turing Scheme programme will give students broader employment opportunities while providing a memorable experience. Participating students will have the chance to enhance their skills and knowledge, including cultural awareness. Horizons will be broadened by breaking down perceived barriers that may limit students’ aspirations and by bringing new knowledge back to the UK, improving employability in both the UK and global job markets. This also optimises social value by encouraging students’ aspirations regarding employment and further studies.
