Build Torbay was established in September 2021 to inspire local people to explore rewarding careers in construction and to ensure Torbay’s regeneration projects bring lasting benefits to the community.
Funded through Torbay Council’s Towns Fund, awarded in 2020, the initiative is part of a £21.9 million investment to revitalise Torquay’s built environment and public spaces — creating opportunities for people and businesses to thrive.
Working in partnership with employers, training providers, and community organisations, Build Torbay connects residents with the skills and training needed to play a part in delivering these exciting projects across Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.
With over 180 different job roles available and clear progression routes, the construction industry offers diverse, well-paid and secure careers. Build Torbay is helping local people — from school leavers to career changers — gain the right skills to succeed in this modern, growing sector.
By linking construction employers with education and training partners, Build Torbay is helping to create a skilled local workforce ready to meet the needs of the area’s regeneration and development plans.
