Introduction to Caring for Children Certificate

Introduction to Caring for Children Certificate

If you’re passionate about working with young children and want to take your first step into a rewarding career in early years education, the Level 1 Certificate in Caring for Children is the perfect starting point.

This one-year practical course introduces you to the fundamentals of caring for children aged 0 to 5. You’ll develop a strong foundation in child development, play, safety, and communication, all while learning in real-world environments that bring your studies to life.

You’ll explore key topics such as:

The importance of play in child development, using our fully equipped Early Years practical skills room, set up just like a real nursery

How to encourage independence and managed risk-taking in our inspiring on-site Forest School

Supporting community engagement by hosting stay-and-play sessions with visiting families

Discovering local services and support by exploring early years provision in the community

Your progress will be assessed through a portfolio of practical work and classroom learning, helping you demonstrate your understanding and readiness for further study or volunteering in childcare settings.

As part of the programme, you'll also have the opportunity to retake English and Maths qualifications alongside your childcare studies, helping to boost your overall confidence and future employability.
