T Level Transition - Childcare
T Level Transition - Childcare
If you're aiming for a career in childcare or education but need additional preparation before starting a full T Level, the T Level Foundation Year in Education: Childcare at South Devon College is the perfect stepping stone.
This one-year course is designed to give you the core knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to progress onto the T Level in Education and Childcare: Assisting Teaching. You’ll build a strong foundation in key subject areas, covering the essential terminology, theory, and practical understanding needed to succeed at Level 3.
Each week, you’ll spend four days in College focusing on classroom-based learning, and one day on placement in a local childcare or early years setting arranged by the College. This valuable experience allows you to apply your knowledge in a real-world environment and begin developing the practical skills required for the sector.
At the end of the programme, you will complete a series of assessments. Your results will determine your progression route - either moving on to the T Level in Education and Childcare, or completing a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Diploma as an alternative path to industry or further study.
This Foundation Year is ideal if you’re not quite ready to start a T Level but want to build your experience, confidence, and qualifications before progressing.
