This Diploma is ideal if you are aged 16 to 18 and want to explore the world of light vehicle maintenance while developing essential skills at a level that matches your ability.

The course is designed to keep you engaged through practical learning and visual assessment techniques that make studying enjoyable and motivating.

Throughout the course, you will build a strong foundation in essential automotive skills. This includes understanding health and safety in the workshop, using tools and equipment for vehicle maintenance, and working with consumable materials. You will explore engine operation and components, maintain exhaust systems, and gain practical knowledge of vehicle electrical circuits. In addition, you will learn about wheel and tyre construction and how to carry out effective maintenance.

As a Level 1 course, this diploma is all about introducing you to the automotive industry and developing your essential skills. You’ll be learning from experienced automotive professionals and mechanics, who are there to give you the very best start to your career.

You will gain knowledge and experience across a wide range of vehicle maintenance areas, preparing you for progression into an automotive apprenticeship or a Level 2 qualification.
