Apprenticeship Lead and Employer Advisor
I moved to Devon in 2004 from Manchester with my young family, driven by a desire to build a better lifestyle and to live by the sea. I quickly fell in love with Torbay and started to develop strong connections across the local business community through my work as a self employed photographer, which sparked my passion for working with people and businesses.
I joined South Devon College in 2022 as an Apprentice Recruitment Coordinator and quickly progressed to the role of Senior Sales Coordinator. In July 2025 I moved into my current role as an Apprenticeship Employer Lead Adviser within the Business, Talent & Skills Team. In my current role, I specialise in building strong relationships with employers and stakeholders, advising on apprenticeship programmes and creating opportunities that connect business needs with emerging talent. A key part of my role is skills matching job ready students with employers, ensuring the right fit for both the individual and the organisation. I work closely with teaching teams to prepare students for the workplace and support a caseload of individuals as they progress into employment. I also design and deliver interactive employer engagement events, bringing students and employers together to create meaningful connections ahead of the interview stage. I am passionate about creating clear pathways into apprenticeships and supporting both young people and employers to achieve long term success.
Personally, my sons are now grown up and have built successful careers in the maritime sector, travelling the world, which has given me the opportunity to start exploring more myself. Outside of work, I enjoy keeping active regularly going to the gym and walking, often making the most of the beautiful coastline here in Devon. I also enjoy going to festivals, volunteering and taking part in community events whenever I can.
