Machining Technician Apprenticeship

Machining Technician Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship is designed to equip the engineering and manufacturing industries with skilled Machinists who combine hands-on practical ability with a solid understanding of their specialist area. It’s ideal for individuals aiming to build a career in the Engineering Manufacturing Sector, while gaining the core skills and knowledge required for success in the role.

To be eligible, you should already be working within the engineering sector and have access to real-life tasks, equipment, or services that align with the scope of this apprenticeship. You’ll be expected to demonstrate a professional attitude, work ethically, and show a strong commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.

With a structured learning pathway, this programme will help you develop advanced Level 3 machining skills and competencies. It’s the perfect foundation for anyone looking to take the first steps toward becoming a fully qualified engineer.

Key Features:

  • Develop core skills in precision machining using industry-standard equipment

  • Gain in-depth knowledge of processes used in modern engineering manufacturing

  • Build the professional behaviours required in a high-performance workplace

  • Support your practical learning with one day per week at college, as part of the 20% off-the-job training requirement

  • Work towards completing your End Point Assessment, supported by a recognised qualification that evidences your skills, knowledge, and behaviours

On successful completion, you will have achieved a nationally recognised apprenticeship standard, opening the door to further progression — including the potential to move on to a Level 4 or Level 6 Engineering Apprenticeship, depending on your role and employer.
