Designed for anyone with an interest in carving in wood, whether they are completely new to it or experienced practitioners. Come and learn and enjoy the skill of carving in wood. We have a well-equipped, modern craft room and an experienced tutor to guide you in this fascinating craft.
Beginners will be guided through the stages of a simple relief carving – help and advice provided from start to finish.
More experienced carvers will have the support and guidance of the tutor whilst working on their personal projects – from the planning stage to the finished carving.

You will develop the skills and knowledge to confidently carve in wood.
The tutor gives individual tuition to each student as they work on their own projects.
The group will be brought together for tool sharpening and safety aspects associated with woodcarving and also for demonstrations of special techniques as they arise.
Students working on their first ever carving will have wood provided but all other students provide their own wood.
Tools are available for carvers to use although many like to buy their own once they are familiar with carving.
I like to use my hands, I like to keep my brain active but also it's good for the environment. It's good for the soul, there's also a social element to it.
I've always done something over the years with gaps in between and it's just nice to learn something new. You're never to old to learn something new.
