The LCL Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Air Source Heat Pump Systems (Non?Refrigerant Circuits) is a nationally recognised qualification designed for heating engineers and installers looking to develop specialist skills in low?carbon air source heat pump (ASHP) technology.
This course provides the essential knowledge and practical competence required to install, commission, service, and maintain air source heat pump systems where the refrigerant circuit remains sealed, meaning no F?Gas qualification is required.
Developed in collaboration with industry bodies including the Heat Pump Association and aligned with Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) standards, this qualification ensures you gain up?to?date, industry?relevant training that meets current regulatory and best?practice expectations.
Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ or SVQ in Plumbing / Heating and ventilation / Gas / Oil Installation and Maintenance qualification
Valid Core Gas Safety (CCN1) certificate (must be involved in the installation of heating systems)
OFTEC Oil certificate
Valid HETAS certificate
If you don't already have these qualifications as part of an exisitng NVQ you will need:
WRAS Water Regulations
Heat pump principles, system components and the vapour compression cycle
Operational characteristics of different air source heat pump configurations
System design principles, including efficiency, hydraulic integration and hot water production
Installation planning, preparation and safe working practices
Testing and commissioning of ASHP systems (non?refrigerant circuits)
Routine servicing, planned maintenance and performance optimisation
Fault?finding and diagnostic procedures
