IMI Inspection Accreditation and MOT Testing Combination
IMI Inspection Accreditation and MOT Testing Combination
IMI Accreditation recognises the current competence of professionals working within the Retail Motor Industry and their commitment to an ethical Code of Conduct.
This accreditation is governed by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), the professional association and Sector Skills Council for the Retail Motor Industry. Course content and structures are regularly reviewed to ensure they stay up to date and meet the evolving skills needs of the sector.
To achieve IMI Accreditation, you must successfully complete a series of practical skills and knowledge assessments. The Light Vehicle Inspection Technician route includes five practical assessments and two online knowledge tests. Candidates must also agree to and adhere to the IMI Code of Conduct. To maintain your accreditation and demonstrate ongoing competence, reassessment every three years is required.
An Inspection Technician is expected to work independently and ideally will be in full-time employment with a minimum of three years’ experience. This ensures familiarity with vehicle servicing techniques, inspections, and system diagnosis.
The IMI Light Vehicle Inspection Technician Accreditation route confirms the knowledge, skills, and behaviours expected at Level 3. This accreditation lasts for three years and can serve as an entry route to the Level 2 Technical Specialist in MOT Testing (Classes 4 and 7) for technicians without a prior Level 3 qualification.
This combination event enables successful Accreditation candidates to progress onto an MOT Tester course for vehicles in classes 4 and 7.
Please enquire for information on availability and dates.
