Award in Education and Training (AET)

Award in Education and Training (AET)

The qualification aims to support you to reflect on your own previous/current levels of experience, practice and skills, and areas for development as well as identify principles of learning, teaching, assessment and evaluation. You will develop confidence, communication and interpersonal skills and develop an awareness of your professional role and responsibilities.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, but you must be considering a subject for delivery and have a qualification in your subject/skill.

You should possess reasonable levels of literacy, numeracy and ICT skills. You will need to complete an online initial assessment in English, maths and ICT prior to the course.

Do I need to be teaching already?

A teaching placement is not required; the teaching element of the course is provided by the delivery of a micro teach.

What is the duration of the course?

The course is five days if completed during the day, or five three-hour sessions if completed in the evening.

How will I be assessed?

Completion of assessment portfolio online – instruction given in first session. Assessed micro teach with assessor present as part of the course or via video upload.

Please note that this specific course is ‘full cost’, meaning that it is not eligible for tuition fee or bursary support. The course fees are to be paid by the student. Depending on the duration of the course, the fees may be eligible to be split over a monthly Direct Debit plan (a Direct Debit fee of £15 would apply).
