Criminology is the scientific study of crime, criminal behaviour, and the societal responses to both. This Level 3 Diploma in Criminology offers an engaging and in-depth look at the causes of crime and how society manages crime and justice. The qualification is awarded by WJEC and is equivalent to one full A Level.
In Year 1, you will explore:
Psychological and sociological theories of crime
How crime is perceived in society
The influence of the media on public attitudes toward crime
The use and interpretation of crime statistics
In Year 2, your studies will focus on:
Investigative techniques, including forensics and policing
The judicial process and how criminal cases progress through the courts
Evaluating crime prevention strategies, such as custodial sentences, community orders, and other measures used to reduce reoffending
This applied general qualification is assessed through a combination of written exams and controlled assessments, providing both theoretical knowledge and practical insight.
