Independent Governor and Lead Governor for Safeguarding
Sally joined the College’s Governing Body in September 2024 and currently serves on both the Audit and Curriculum & Quality Committees. She also holds the important role of Safeguarding Governor.
Sally has been connected with the College for the past five years, providing accommodation for the University and Further Education students over 18 years old. Prior to this, she enjoyed a 25-year teaching career, specializing in Pastoral Care and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and remains committed to helping individuals achieve their full potential.
In addition to her work at the College, Sally is an Enterprise Advisor for a local secondary school, where she supports young people in developing the skills they need to succeed in business. After taking early retirement from teaching 10 years ago, Sally successfully launched and grew four businesses in the property and coaching sectors. She has mentored numerous business professionals, guiding them in areas such as business growth, partnership collaboration, and staff management. She continues to help business owners survive, grow and thrive.
Sally’s contributions to the business community have not gone unnoticed, as she has won awards for her efforts in developing others and was named the Most Inspiring Business Person 2023. Sally also served as the Chair of Paignton Chamber of Commerce for four years, navigating the role during the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic. Outside of her professional endeavours, Sally is a dedicated trustee for an organization that supports women affected by domestic abuse and addiction, where she leverages her housing expertise to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals. Sally lives in Paignton and having lived in various parts of the country wouldn’t live anywhere else now.
