Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship

Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship

This IT occupation focuses on ensuring the smooth operation and management of IT infrastructure—covering physical and virtual hardware, software, network services, and data storage—to meet the information system needs of an organisation.

There are three pathways available within this apprenticeship:

Support Technician: Primarily desk-based, this role involves resolving user queries and troubleshooting faults within a helpdesk environment. Businesses contact Support Technicians to report issues, which they either resolve or escalate to engineers.

Network Technician: Typically desk-based but may require visits to client sites. For example, a Network Technician in a university or college might install computer labs, including cabling and hardware, or set up cloud services to support business growth and enhance network capabilities.

Digital Communications Technician: Can be desk or field-based, handling faults and issues with communications systems. As an Online Network Technician, this role involves resolving complex communication problems.
