AAT Accounting (Blended learning/Teams option) Certificate

AAT Accounting (Blended learning/Teams option) Certificate

If you're looking to gain a solid grounding in accountancy and finance while developing essential business and personal skills, the AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting at South Devon College is the perfect place to start. This page is specifically for those interested in studying the AAT Level 2 qualification via a bi-weekly blended learning approach over 36 weeks (classroom or Teams).

We also offer a full 24-week taught classroom option that can be located elsewhere on our website.

Designed for those new to the world of finance or returning to education, this qualification equips you with the fundamental knowledge and skills employers look for. You’ll explore key areas of finance administration and core accounting skills such as double-entry bookkeeping, basic costing and an understanding of the accounting ledgers.

This course is ideal if you:

  • Are considering a career in finance or accountancy

  • Are entering the workplace for the first time or changing careers

  • Want to build confidence with practical, real-world financial skills

  • Are studying full-time and want a qualification that broadens your business knowledge.

  • Want a more flexible approach to studying the AAT qualification with a blend of interactive online learning resources and support from an experienced tutor either on campus or via Teams.

What you’ll gain:

  • A solid foundation in core accounting principles

  • Valuable business knowledge relevant to finance roles

  • Transferable skills for any professional setting

  • A qualification recognised and respected across the UK.

This flexible course is delivered in partnership with Mindful Education and combines online learning with face-to-face lessons in the classroom, referred to as Online and On Campus.

This Level 2 course is part-funded, so the cost for students is reduced.

On successful completion of this course, you might be eligible for a fully funded Level 3 course. Please see information on progression below.

Please note: The blended learning course starts on 15/09/2026, and the Teams course starts on 22/09/2026. Additional start dates may be available. Classroom attendance is fortnightly, on every other Tuesday.

Study method – Online and On Campus

We have partnered with Mindful Education to deliver this course through our flexible Online and On Campus model.

Online, you will study award-winning video lessons, which are available on demand, and can be viewed from your phone, tablet or computer – meaning you can choose how, when and where you want to study. Lessons are accompanied by animations and motion graphics to bring concepts to life. Practice questions, downloadable lesson materials and interactive case studies help to enhance the learning experience further.

You should expect to spend around 3-6 hours studying independently online each week.

On campus, you benefit from regular classes with a college tutor – without having to commit to attending multiple evenings each week. Your tutor will review what you have learnt during your online lessons and will be on hand to provide guidance on progress and assessment. Regular discussion with classmates will help to reinforce key points while also providing the additional support and motivation that comes from being part of a group.

Progression

On successful completion of this course, you can progress to higher levels of the AAT accounting qualifications (Level 3 and then on to Level 4). You might be eligible for a fully funded Level 3 course through the Adult Skills Fund. Alternatively, you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of your Level 3 study. Please note, course fees include AAT exam fees and VAT. A separate AAT registration fee applies and is payable directly to AAT. Eligible students may be able to access support through the College bursary.

Funding and support available: If you’re aged 19 or over and have lived in the UK for at least three years (excluding those in devolved education areas or currently on apprenticeships), you may be eligible for fully funded or discounted course fees. Additional support may also be available for travel, childcare or equipment costs, depending on your circumstances.
