Sport, Adventure and Fitness
Do you have an interest in sport and adventure or are a talented athlete and want to develop your skills, or perhaps you’d like to pursue a career in inspiring and motivating others to achieve their fitness goals?
If so, we have the perfect sport and fitness course for you. We offer adventure, sports development and coaching programmes as well as various sports science or health and fitness courses. Our wide-ranging curriculum develops important transferable skills for the workplace, as well as improving your practical abilities.
We involve employers across Torbay and South Devon in our curriculum at every opportunity so you can be sure you are gaining relevant skills for employment. You will learn from passionate teachers and coaches, who all have years of professional experience in their chosen fields.
You will also have exclusive access to the South Devon College Sports Centre which has a 3G pitch, MUGA pitch, Grass pitch, clubhouse and Sports hall. You may also decide to be part of the Pro:Direct Devon football Academy. This combines a regular football development programme, training, coaching and the theory related to the game. We also have a unique partnership with Torquay United, who use our excellent facilities to support their training.
Public Services
We have a highly qualified and experienced teaching team who have experience in the industry. All of our staff members keep up-to-date with current standards and attend regular industry conferences to update their training. Our protective services courses at South Devon College are designed to help you enter one of the UK’s fastest-growing industries.
At South Devon College, we know what the security and event industry looks for in potential employees, which is why we can help prepare you for work. The qualifications that you work towards are only a small part of your learning during your time here, you will also benefit from regular talks from industry experts and participate in offsite activities and work placement. Many of our students that have successfully completed a protective services course have gone into jobs with local and national companies, and worked at events such as Glastonbury, Royal Ascot and MTV Crashes. Our team have excellent links with both local and national security and events companies who are involved with the largest contracts in the UK, and we aim to give you experience and get you into employment in this sector.
