Maritime Studies Award Level 2
There’s nothing quite like being out on the water. Whether you fancy yourself as a yacht skipper, a marine engineer or a boat builder, this is the course that’s going to introduce you to the marine sector and help you get there.
This course is the perfect introduction to the marine sector, enabling you to identify the areas that interest you most in this dynamic industry. You’ll gain both practical experience and theoretical knowledge, as you find out the areas that interest you most in the marine sector.
You will be assessed by practical tasks, delivered both on and off water, using a range of vessels and equipment in our fantastic workshop based on the banks of the River Dart within a fully operational boatyard at the South Devon College Marine Academy.
Upon completion, you could progress to either of our Level 2 qualifications, to refine your skills and knowledge. At Level 2, we offer courses that focus on: boatbuilding; marinas and boatyards; and marine engineering. Don’t worry – if you’re not sure what pathway you’d like to take, our team of tutors and support staff will help you find the right course so you can get your dream job out on the water.
We are a member of British Marine and a recognised Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Training Centre, so you’ll also get plenty of opportunities to complete professional qualifications alongside your course.
