RYA Powerboat Handling Level 2
This is a beginner two-day course covering both theory and practical. Where the theory is applied. subjects covered include: low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planning speed and collision regulations. By the end of the course you will be a self-sufficient powerboater in the right conditions and be aware of your own limitations and those of the craft.
This powerboat handling course will teach you the skills and foundational knowledge necessary to operate a powerboat competently. A continuous assessment method is used throughout, an action plan can be put in place for anyone not meeting the required skill level at the end of the course.
The RYA Powerboat Level 2 Syllabus is delivered out on the River Dart and out to sea at the mouth of the Dart, with some topics presented in a classroom setting with a student-to-instructor ratio of three students to one instructor.
Certificate issuing criteria include: self-sufficient powerboater in the right conditions and aware of own limitations and those of the craft
Delivery of this course is predominantly practical but with some classroom elements.
The minimum age requirement for this course is 12 (candidates under the age of 16 will be issued with an endorsed certificate).
This is a commercial course and the fee is a fixed cost of £300 for all applicants.
