Introduction to Photonics Wire Bonding
This one-day course is for people who are working in or have an interest in working in the photonics sector.
At the end of the course, you will have a good understanding of:
Au Thermosonic Ball Bonding, Au Thermosonic Wedge Bonding and Al Ultrasonic Wedge Bonding
The pros and cons of each type of Wire Bonding method.
When to use each method
How to verify the quality of the Die Bond in terms of visual inspection and destruct testing against Military Standard 883
This course will take place at South Devon College’s Paignton campus in our dedicated electronic and photonic training suite. The course will include lots of practical sessions to embed your understanding and develop your skills. There is no formal assessment.
Upon successful engagement in both days, you will receive a South Devon College Certificate of attendance.
If you are aged 16+ and live in or support residents in the TQ1 to TQ5 Torbay Council postcode area, then you may be eligible to have this course funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). This course may offer funding for those who are over 19, have been resident in the UK for three years, with the exception of those who live within a devolved adult education area and those currently enrolled on an apprenticeship please click here for more information.

The staff at the College were so kind, supportive and helpful when I first met them.
