Introduction to Caring for Children and Young People (Online) Level 2
This fully subsidised online learning course will provide you with an introduction to caring for children from the comfort of your own home.
You will learn how to safeguard the welfare of children and young people, how to support growth through a healthy diet and nutrition and develop your knowledge of interaction and activities which encourage children to communicate with others around them.
Units covered:
-Young Children’s Development
This unit will enable students to gain an understanding of how young children’s development during the first three years of their lives and how meeting their basic needs supports development
-Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
This unit provides the knowledge and understanding required for safeguarding the welfare of children and young people.
-Respecting and valuing children
The aim of this unit is to gain an understanding of respecting and valuing children and some knowledge of the organisations that support children’s rights.
-Use food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet
In this unit, students gain an awareness of the information that is provided on food labels and how this may be used to plan a healthy diet. They will learn the facts behind nutritional claims on food labels and consider the advantages and disadvantages of using food additives. Students will also evaluate their own diet and make recommendations for improvement.
-Importance of play for early learning
This unit gives students an understanding of the importance of play within early learning.
-The value of play to young children
This unit will enable students to gain an understanding of the value of play in the development of young children and how the role of the adult supports this.
-Sharing Learning experiences with children
The aim of this unit is to develop the students’ knowledge and understanding of types of learning experiences which could be shared with children, and the importance of these experiences in promoting learning.
This course is suitable for those aged 19+ who want to start working with young children, retrain or as a stepping stone to help you return to more formal learning.
You will learn independently on our online platform but with the support of a personal tutor. All course material and lessons are held on our online platform – you can access in your own time. There are no live lessons to attend.
This course will be fully subsidised for those who are over 19, have been resident in the UK for three years, with an exception of those who live within a devolved adult education area and those currently enrolled on an apprenticeship – please click here for more information.
