Health and Social Care Level 1
If you’re looking to start a meaningful career supporting others, the Level 1 Certificate in Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings at South Devon College offers the perfect introduction. This one-year course is your first step into a growing sector with thousands of job opportunities in your community and beyond.
You’ll gain a strong foundation in health and social care principles, including how to support individuals’ physical, emotional and social needs. You’ll explore real-world topics such as person-centred care, safeguarding, communication, and the roles of professionals working across both adult care and children’s services.
You’ll study at college three days a week, developing both practical skills in our dedicated simulation suite and employability skills through engaging projects and classroom-based learning. You’ll also have opportunities to take part in work experience, building your confidence and preparing you for further study or entry-level roles in the care sector.
This course is delivered by experienced tutors and care professionals, who will support your journey and help you understand what it takes to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
If you’re not quite ready for a Level 1 course, we also offer an alternative curriculum pathway to help you progress.
