GCSE programme for Adults Level 2
Many adults study with us to further their current career, to change career or simply to achieve the qualifications they felt they missed out on in school. We have made our GCSE programme more flexible for next year so you can plan your studies to fit with your other commitments. We offer GCSEs in English, Maths, and Biologyas day classes or as evening classes. We also offer Sociology as a daytime only option. You can study up tos four options during the day; take one or two subjects in the evening (Tuesday and Wednesday) or mix some day and some evening study. Each course has a single, 2-3 hour, timetabled lesson each week and you will need to spend at least as much time for each subject out of college as you spend in lessons so you can read and complete homework.
You will not have to pay the full GCSE fees for Sociology and/or Biology until January. If you have a low income these subjects may be free, and Maths and English are free for everybody.
Along with your GCSEs, we will fully support you in the development of communication and interpersonal skills through engaging lessons delivered by knowledgeable and friendly staff. Our aim is to ensure you make good progress in your studies which will help improve your employability and long-term career prospects. Many adults progress from the GCSE programme to an Access to HE Diploma (level 3) and then go to university to complete a degree.

I’ve recently completed my Level 5 HR Consultant Partner Apprenticeship at South Devon College and have enjoyed every minute! South Devon College has provided me with the tools and resources I needed to complete the course. My tutor and colleagues were extremely supportive and created an open environment to encourage participation and the sharing of ideas! Doing an apprenticeship has allowed me to apply knowledge that I’ve learnt during the course into real life situations. The end point assessment project has enabled me to showcase my new skills by designing a solution to a business need. Amy Law – HR Advisor, Core Highways
