Learners studying Plumbing and Gas Engineering at South Devon College are keeping up with new industry technologies, thanks to a generous donation of a new boiler system from Intergas Heating.
Strong positive working links have been forged between Intergas and Steve Endicott, Lecturer in Plumbing at South Devon College, and the Kidderminster-based manufacturer has kindly donated its new hybrid Xtend package to boost the training facilities offered by the College. This training will also be made available to local engineers, helping to upskill Torbay’s workforce.
The new Xtend Hybrid package, which includes the Xclusive boiler plus indoor and outdoor units, will benefit the College’s third year students, who will gain valuable experience working on new technologies, software and installations whilst providing insight into heating and efficiency requirements within properties.
Intergas’ Training Manager Mike Hook said: “The partnership between Intergas and South Devon College is a wonderful opportunity to support the training of third year students.
“The donation of our new hybrid, The Xtend, will provide students with valuable insights into new technologies, property requirements, and installation tips.
“We are excited to see how this partnership will benefit the students and promote a greener planet through innovative solutions.”

Xtend is a hybrid heating system that combines two technologies – hot water from a gas combi boiler and heating from a 5kW split air source heat pump – and the system can cut gas consumption by up to 82.5%, making it a sustainable choice.
Intergas has previously donated an Xtreme boiler to the plumbing curriculum area for teaching purposes.
Steve Endicott said: “The kit from Intergas is a fantastic opportunity for students to see and work on the latest technology that’s coming out in the industry, giving the students the edge on this type of tech.
“In partnership with Intergas local engineers will also be invited to come in to the College to train on this equipment. I am very excited to use the product and demonstrate its capabilities to the students and local workforce.”
