  • From Apprentice to Manager: Amy’s Inspiring Career Journey in Early Childhood Education

Home » News » All News » From Apprentice to Manager: Amy’s Inspiring Career Journey in Early Childhood Education

14th May 2024

At a time when there is a national shortage of people entering the Early Years sector, former South Devon College apprentice Amy Carthew has become Mama Bear’s Day Nursery newest Nursery Manager.

Amy began her journey in the early childhood education sector as an apprentice at Long Road Nursery, completing her apprenticeship through the College. Through dedication and hard work, she steadily climbed the career ladder and has demonstrated remarkable progression over the years, attaining a Level 3 position with Mama Bear’s in 2019.

She then swiftly moved into the role of Team Leader of the baby room in October 2019, showcasing her leadership skills and commitment to nurturing young minds.

Amy was promoted to the position of Deputy Manager in October 2020, contributing to the smooth operation of the nursery and fostering a supportive environment for both staff and children.

Amy is excelling in her new role as Manager of Mama Bear’s Midvale Road Nursery

In November 2023, Amy took on a pivotal role at Mama Bear’s Midvale Road Nursery in Paignton, where her expertise and dedication were instrumental in achieving a Good Ofsted result in April 2024. Her proactive approach and collaborative spirit played a vital role in driving high standards and ensuring the well-being of all involved.

Amy has now stepped into the role of Manager at Midvale Road Nursery, a testament to her unwavering commitment and leadership capabilities. With a clear vision and determination to drive the setting forward, Amy is poised to make a lasting impact, inspiring her team and shaping the early future of the children that she so passionately cares for.

Victoria Ashbolt, Operations Director at Mama Bear’s Day Nursery, said: “It’s so lovely to see Amy getting the recognition that she deserves. She has excelled in all areas of her career so far and I feel really fortunate to be able to work with her on this next step”
