South Devon College is hosting a Post-18 Futures Fair this month, to showcase all the options available to students who have completed their further education.
There will be over 40 exhibitors present at the event, including representatives and employers from local industry, as well as a wealth of information on self-employment, apprenticeships and Higher Education provision.
Pupils from local schools will be attending during the day, including Teignmouth Community School, Orchard Manor School, Preston Bridge, Kingsbridge Academy, and Churston Ferrers Grammar School. Between 250-300 young people, ranging from Year 10 (age 14) to Year 13 (age 18), will be benefiting from the expertise and advice available on the day.
Between 4-6pm, the event is open to the public and will welcome teenagers with their parents / carers.
Matt Harbour, Vice Principal, said: “We’re really excited to be working with the Careers Hub, the TDA and Anthony Mangnall MP to host this important event. There are so many opportunities open to school leavers, whether it’s a higher or degree apprenticeship, a traditional degree, or straight into employment. This event will bring all the information young people across South Devon need to make an informed choice about what’s right for them.”
Organisations from a wide range of sectors will be available to offer advice and answer your questions. You will also be able to meet with local training providers and advice organisations to discuss your post-18 options.
Anthony Mangnall MP, who is responsible for the creation and continuation of this event said: “The Post-18 Futures Fair is all about linking students with local enterprises, encouraging them to look closer to home and see the wealth of opportunity that is on our own doorstep.
“In South Devon, we not only have brilliant businesses in a range of different sectors, but we also have an extraordinary bunch of switched-on students who are leaving education equipped with the necessary skills to work with businesses that are based in the area.
“It is a pleasure to be able to work with South Devon College, the Careers Hub, TDA and South Hams District Council to highlight the opportunities that are available locally.”

This Careers Hub event is held in association with Anthony Mangnall MP, South Hams District Council, TDA and South Devon College, and is on Thursday 12 October from 4-6pm.
