This latest exciting development sees the partnership between both parties continuing to go from strength to strength, with the decision for the College to become the first front-of-shirt sponsor of United’s kits since 2019 seeing two forward-thinking and progressive members of the Torbay landscape join forces to highlight its common commitment – Building a better Bay for all.
South Devon College’s passion for inspiring the local community is through learning in a modern and friendly environment, with a state-of-the-art main campus in Paignton, and other campuses based in various locations throughout Torbay and beyond, including Torquay, Newton Abbot and Kingswear.
With TUAFC possessing a similar ethos, and the Club firmly committed to attaining the best for the Torbay community and its residents, the 2023/24 campaign will see Gary Johnson’s side striving for National League South supremacy on the field, whilst this new link-up will see both Torquay United and South Devon College setting their sights on scaling new heights off the field.
After confirming the College as the Club’s front-of-shirt sponsor, TUAFC Director Mel Hayman highlighted how the common goals for both parties made the arrangement possible, with the presence of a main sponsor on United’s kits for the first time in four years signifying far more than merely a logo on a shirt.
“Torquay United AFC has enjoyed an excellent working relationship with South Devon College for a number of years now, and having the College as our main shirt sponsor next season is fantastic news.
“With the College’s ambitions for our local community being so in sync with the Club’s, this partnership will benefit not only TUAFC and the College, but also Torbay and its residents.”
Likewise, Laurence Frewin, Principal and CEO of South Devon College was keen to highlight the benefits of working together with South Devon’s only professional sporting outfit.
“South Devon College is incredibly proud to be sponsoring Torquay United AFC for the season ahead. We are so well aligned in our values, ambitions, aspirations for inclusivity and creating opportunities for people locally.
“This partnership offers a new way for TUAFC and South Devon College to collectively reach out to the community which are so proud to be part of. Together we feel we can make Torbay an even greater place to live, work and play.”
Torquay United AFC looks forward to the Yellow Army, as well as South Devon College’s staff and students, joining us on what promises to be an exciting and productive journey in the season ahead!
