  • Partial College Closure and temporary move to Online Learning today

Home » News » All News » Partial College Closure and temporary move to Online Learning today

12th December 2022

Partial College Closure and temporary move to Online Learning from 12pm Monday 12/12/2022

Due to a loss in operational heating, which is also affecting gas supplies for catering and hot water provision, the South Devon College Vantage Point campus will be closed on Monday 12th December. This includes: Construction, Automotive and the Hi Tech and Digital Centre. SWEC and South Devon College Marine Academy (Noss-on-Dart) will also close due to related issues.

Other than those students due to take on-site exams today, all students affected by closures are being asked to return home immediately and to resume their lessons on-line from midday.

All college staff will remain onsite until at least 10am to ensure students return home safely. College Managers will remain on-site until at least midday.

Teaching and learning will resume online from 12noon for the rest of Monday 12th December, and your tutor will be in touch to make arrangements.

The following buildings are not affected so delivery will continue as normal and they will remain open:

  • University Centre South Devon
  • Newton Abbot Campus – Bradley Lane and Brunel Skills Centre
  • CHCP (Torquay Campus)

We expect all systems to be fully operational by tomorrow morning (Tuesday 13th December). There will be an update by 5pm this evening through our usual communication channels.

We look forward to welcoming everybody back to campus again tomorrow.
