10 Top Tips to get through exam season!

Exams are already in full swing and you may be feeling stressed, anxious or nervous about your exams. So, we have some tips to help you not just get through exam season, but to help you do your best!

1. Drink plenty of water

2-3 litres a day – our brain is 75% water and needs hydrating, especially when we need to concentrate

2. Eat a healthy balanced diet

You need to fuel your body with foods that help concentration – bananas, berries, yoghurt, eggs, oats, salmon, peanut butter and even chocolate (in moderation!)

3. Get a good night’s sleep

Boosts mood, concentration, appetite, memory, and physical health

4. Exercise

Boosts mood, improves your sleep, and releases endorphins which are your brain’s happy chemicals

5. Take a break every 45 minutes when revising

That means TURN OFF SCREENS, and GET SOME FRESH AIR

6. Do some mindful exercises

Look up mindful exercises on YouTube – find something that works for you

7. Talk to someone

You are not alone – Speak to a friend, family, your tutor or get support online/over the phone

8. Revise with a friend

You are all in this together – studies show revising with peers is effective and makes it more interesting and engaging

9. In-test Tips

Take several slow breaths, think about relaxing your muscles one at a time, read questions slowly and more than once, do one question at a time, bring and drink water – stay hydrated, ask the exam invigilator if you need support or have a question

10. Believe in yourself

You are more than capable – just make sure to look after your mental and physical health, structure your revision and do as much as you can whilst looking after yourself – you can’t ask any more!
