South Devon College’s Pro:Direct Academy 1st team won the semi-final match against Coleg Cambria away in North Wales. Player Sammy Stayt scored the only goal of the game, leading the team to victory.
The ECFA Premier Cup is the highest level Football competition for Colleges.
Sammy Stayt, attacking midfielder said, “Our team had such a desire to win this game. We think like a team both on and off the pitch. We have a lot of respect for each other and that sense of togetherness helps us to play to the best of our ability.”
Luis Edmondson, team captain said, “We’ve worked really hard to get to this point and I’m excited for the final. We really appreciate all the support and I’m proud to be a part of this team.”
As a result of this fantastic achievement, the squad will now travel to the ECFA Premier Cup final representing the South West to play against Bishop Burton College in Doncaster.
Pro:Direct Academy lead football coach Chris Todd said, “It’s a remarkable achievement for the team, which shouldn’t be underestimated due to the COVID disruption to training over the last couple of years. Their commitment and effort has been rewarded. Both the coaching staff and wider College staff are very proud.”
