  • Torbay NHS Trust uses levy transfer to create two TUFC Community Support Officer roles

Home » News » All News » Torbay NHS Trust uses levy transfer to create two TUFC Community Support Officer roles

5th November 2019

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust’s (TSDFT) Lifestyles team has used some of their apprenticeship levy transfer to support the generation of two Community Support Officer Apprentice positions at Torquay United Football Club (TUFC) in collaboration with South Devon College.

South Devon College have strong links with both the NHS and TUFC, with both partnerships producing many great opportunities for students and the local community. The support from the Lifestyles team at the NHS has a goal of highlighting the importance of gaining new skills and empowering individuals within our community, encouraging long lasting positive changes.

Apprenticeship and Wider Participation Manager for TSDFT, Suzanne Hubbard, said:

“Torbay and South Devon Foundation NHS Trust is extremely keen to promote health and wellbeing and support healthy lifestyles in our community.

“Encouraging healthy eating and regular physical activity will benefit us all and will support healthier lifestyles. This fantastic new Apprenticeship opportunity offered by South Devon College is vital for supporting our wider community.

“We are delighted to work with South Devon College and Torquay United and to support a ‘Community Support Worker’ who will engage with adults and children in our region.

“This opportunity will give those they come into contact with, the chance to lead lifelong healthy lifestyles. Increasing their quality of life both physically and mentally.”

South Devon College are grateful for the support of both the Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, its Lifestyles team, and TUFC for making these apprenticeship roles possible and giving more opportunity to current, past, and future students.
