The College is delighted to announce that it has the highest Student Satisfaction Survey results for General FE and Tertiary Colleges in the South of England. The annual national “FE Choices” survey is independently conducted by Ipsos Mori on behalf of the Department for Education and captures views of students and apprentices about their satisfaction with their college including teaching, support for learning, and how well they feel this has prepared them for their next steps. This year’s survey results were published on the 10th September 2019.
The College also scored as the second highest rated General FE and Tertiary College for student satisfaction out of 167 institutions across all of England, with a 96% satisfaction rate, climbing 14 places compared to last year’s survey.
The main focus at South Devon College is to provide the best learning experience for its students and to support a large and diverse range of employers to help the development of the future workforce. These results are also a clear reflection of the intention behind the recent campus and curriculum developments that have been made at the College, who strive to ensure a positive student experience across all age ranges and campus locations.
A recent example of the investments that have been made is the new Hi Tech & Digital Centre. The £17m building features state-of-the-art technology throughout every room and has an architectural design that encourages collaboration between students and businesses from different specialisms and curiosity about what skills different practises involve and need to learn.
The Hi Tech & Digital Centre (HTDC) combines £8.3m from the Heart of the South West LEP’s Growth Deal funding from the Heart of the South West LEP, as well as funding support from European Regional Development Fund, Higher Education Funding Council for England, Garfield Weston Foundation, Torbay Council, South Devon College and private sector investment. It will be a flagship facility, alongside other Institutes of Technology developments in the country.
Comprising a latest generation all weather 3G pitch, changing rooms, community room teaching space and a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) pitch, the South Devon College Sports Centre had also been added to the vast range of top-grade facilities available at the College in January 2019. The brand new Sports Centre was made a reality due to investment from South Devon College, Linden Homes and the Premier League & FA Facilities Fund, delivered by the Football Foundation.
With strong values and exciting plans for the future, these results are fantastic evidence that their work is truly noticed by the students.
