South Devon College has bagged finalist spots in not one but two categories of the South Devon Business Awards. The two categories that the College have so far been successful in are the Apprenticeship Development Award and Best Digital or Tech Business.
The College have been considered for the Apprenticeship Development Award for various reasons, including being accredited with Investors in People Platinum, the highest level awarded by the people management standard. This makes South Devon College the only college in England to have achieved platinum status, as it joins the top 7% of accredited organisations across the UK. South Devon College has embraced apprenticeships as one way to develop its talented staff. It employs 64 apprentices across 21 different apprenticeship standards across all levels of apprenticeship training from level 2 to level 7 masters degree apprenticeships
South Devon College’s Hi Tech & Digital department is what has landed the College in the final for Best Digital or Tech Business. The College has successfully developed and implemented a business plan to create a Hi Tech & Digital department which is specifically aimed at supporting the technical needs of businesses at all levels. Developing a curriculum that recognises strategic and innovative approaches to delivering employers’ needs for workforce development has been met by providing a pipeline of skilled students who are ready to enter employment and who will make a significant contribution to the economic development of Torbay.
The College wishes all other finalists the best of luck and a sincere congratulations for reaching this stage alongside them.
