2nd September 2019
Timothy Morgan, 19, has just completed his first year in FdSc/HNC Marine Technologies with a distinction overall. But now he has deferred for a year to complete a mammoth task of sailing the Clipper Round the World Race. He is sailing as part of a 57 member crew and is the youngest sailor in team Seattle.
Tim and his crew set off yesterday, 1st September at 3pm, from London as Tower Bridge lifted to clear the way for the race to commence.
Matt Prowse, Tim’s Lecturer in Marine Engineering said:
“Tim is a hard-working student who has a natural flare for yacht design and the experience of this race will only add to his already substantial knowledge of the working environment of global racing yachts.”
It’s a fantastic opportunity for Tim. South Devon College will be cheering him on and will be following the progress of the race closely. Stay tuned for more updates on how Tim gets on.
If you’re interested in studying one of the many Marine qualifications on offer at South Devon College, come along to the next Open Event on Saturday 12th October 2019, 10am – 1pm. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the College on 08000 380 123 or email [email protected].
