The atmosphere at the College was buzzing as students of all ages collected their GCSE and Level 2 qualification results. It was a joyful sight to see all of them united as they reached this milestone together. The qualifications achieved today will hugely support their transition into the next chapter of their learning journey.
South Devon College offers varied GCSE subjects for a wide range of students. For many, it’s an opportunity to improve on their previous school achievements in English and maths that will support their progression and future employment.
Each year GCSEs continue to bring new opportunities for adults who have returned to education with aspirations to progress into higher education or onto an access to higher education course.
|Sue Brown has achieved great things this year by combining her BA (hons) Child Development and Education and earning a 2:1 at University Centre South Devon as well as gaining a grade 5 in her Biology GCSE. Sue can now fulfil her ambition of becoming a primary school teacher by progressing to study a PGCE. “The GCSE was an evening course so I was able to fit it around my work and other studies, the atmosphere in the class was amazing and the teachers were so supportive.”
|The College was delighted to welcome father and son Daniel and Leon who were both collecting GCSE results! Daniel passed his maths GCSE and Leon has just completed his studies at South Devon High School. Daniel plans to enrol on an access course and progress to study a degree in social work. Leon will begin studying for his A Levels next.|
|Alisha Thompson, from Ivybridge, gained a distinction in Level 2 Animal Care. Her ambition is to progress to university and eventually work for the RSPCA. She said, “I love animals and want to work in welfare, taking this course means I’m one step closer. Being able to work with the animals on the College’s animal unit was a real bonus.”|
