15th July 2019
South Devon College welcomed over 100 key local stakeholders, friends and colleagues for a networking reception at Horizons Restaurant.
The event was the last official engagement for Stephen Criddle OBE, Principal and CEO, before his retirement. He delivered an inspiring speech on the importance of partnership and community.
Assistant Principal Steve Caunter followed by paying tribute to Stephen’s inspirational leadership, hard work, dedication, focus and passion for both South Devon College and the local community.
Visitors were then treated to an exclusive early tour of the Hi Tech & Digital Centre, due to open in September 2019.
The innovative £17 million Centre will provide a visionary facility for further education and training support; aimed at the ever-expanding hi-tech, manufacturing, digital and creative sectors across Torbay, South Devon and the wider area.
The Hi Tech & Digital Centre (HTDC) combines £8.3m from the Heart of the South West LEP’s Growth Deal funding from the Heart of the South West LEP, as well as funding support from European Regional Development Fund, Higher Education Funding Council for England, Garfield Weston Foundation, Torbay Council, South Devon College and private sector investment. It will be a flagship facility, alongside other Institutes of Technology developments in the country.
