Last night South Devon College hosted the first ever South Devon Business Partners Annual Dinner to celebrate the partnerships we have with local businesses that help make the College a brilliant institution for learning and shape the future of the local work force. The event was hosted in Horizons restaurant, supported by Bays Brewery and 1Vision Print, and over 40 people attended from a range of local businesses, and a number of college staff.
The event recognised those businesses that have recruited a high number of apprentices from the College or have been long serving as loyal partners. It’s also an encouraging reminder to businesses that what they are doing is of huge benefit to the local workforce, economy and making apprenticeships a more valid and recognised way of learning not just locally, but across the country.
It isn’t just businesses that reap all the benefits from this though. It’s mainly the students. It provides the student a qualification, paid employment alongside and the valuable experience that comes with that which is why rewarding the businesses that make this way of learning possible of high priority to South Devon College.
Emily Tucker, Head of Apprenticeships and Employer Engagement, said ” I am delighted that our first ever South Devon Business Partners Annual Dinner was such a success. It was great to have the support of so many of our local employers and to say thank you for working with us over the past year. The event also presented some really exciting local and national opportunities which I am really excited about developing in the future.”
