The annual robotics challenge, supported by Arconic Foundation and Tomorrow’s Engineers, is an event aimed at aspiring students aged between 11-14 years old. Students are able to develop their own thinking skills and work together in teams to solve real-world engineering, technology and computing challenges.
Head of Hi-Tech Engineering and Computing, Lloyd Heavens, was one of the judges at the event and complemented the pupils for their perseverance, creativity, problem solving and design skills they each demonstrated over the course of the project.
Nine Devon based schools were given the task to research, design, plan, implement and present their own solution to a contemporary engineering problem developed with support from the Royal Air Force and Rolls Royce. The challenge will open up potential new careers for these students and help put their school learning into context.
