As South Devon College heads into its new academic year, the familiar and well-known College logo will take on a pioneering and exciting new evolution. Supporting the College’s vision to continue to be the leading choice for education and training in South Devon and Torbay, today marks the launch of the College’s official new logo.
The decision for the logo refresh is at a time when the College is moving from strength to strength in producing high quality academic results, professional and industry trained students and expanding dramatically in line with local economic demand.
The new logo reflects the inclusivity that is at the heart of the College’s vision, and that the extensive reach across its many campus locations is not limited to just the main campus in Paignton. South Devon College appreciates how versatility and openness can be a valuable asset, and the new logo design will produce simplicity in the College’s messaging and advertising across South Devon and wider areas. This will be a phased approach, with resources and materials updated throughout the course of the first term and a number of key areas updated with immediate effect.
Stephen Criddle OBE, Principal and CEO, is excited about the new look for the College and explains the key factors that have been considered in this process; “We are keen to ensure that our image is reflective of our vision and direction as a college. The new logo is designed to offer simplicity in our core brand whilst offering full opportunity to be creative and expressive in our key messages. The emblem of open brackets helps to convey a continuing sense of strength but emphasises openness and inclusivity, with partnership and opportunities for all being at the heart of the College approach. With the College continuing to be highly ambitious for its community and expanding at a rapid rate, we wanted to match this exciting period with a fresh, new look for the College. The logo will help resonate with the openness our students have to imagine any future they want to build for themselves when studying here at the College”.
With the new logo comes our new tagline ‘Space to grow’, further expressing the notion of College students being free to choose their own future, endless possibilities for personal development, and a positive recognition of the outdoor lifestyle that comes with studying in South Devon. The College’s new identity will provide the backdrop for students and staff alike, representing a vibrant organisation where diverse ideas and creative variety are actively encouraged.
In addition to the wide variety of subjects taught at the main Paignton Campus, Newton Abbot Campus, and South Devon Marine Academy, students around Torbay and South Devon now have the opportunity to study at the Centre for Health and Care Professions (CHCP) in Torquay. Specialising in health and medical sector subjects, CHCP will help support aspiring students in pursuing a career in a range of industries including medicine, nursing and biological science.
