South Devon College recently led on an innovative project ‘Brushing Up’. The project was part of The Education and Training Foundation’s (ETF) programme in outstanding teaching, learning and assessment (OTLA).
The project aim is to reduce the skills gaps within the hair and beauty industry by adopting innovative teaching, learning and assessment approaches.
The College teamed up with education providers and employer partners to deliver workshops to share best practice. The opportunity offered practitioners and managers from across different providers a powerful opportunity for shared learning and development. For example, South Devon College English lecturers delivered a session at Petroc on embedding English, and Petroc delivered a session on the use of technology at South Devon College.
An employee partner said, “I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of the project as it has given me the opportunity to network, share good practice and enhance my skills, lots of new ideas going forward.”
The success of the collaboration has led to the suggestion by the partnership to set up an AoC Professional Exchange group to sustain the regional links formed.
