South Devon College Catering students Sam Camplin and Owen Rundle competed in the International Salon Culinaire, the UK’s largest and most prestigious chef competition programme comprising over 100 separate competitions.

Sam and Owen were part of the Major Series Final, hosted by Major International and The Craft Guild of Chefs. The event took place during Hotelympia, a hotel, restaurant and catering exhibition at the ExCel in London.

Competitors had just one hour to prepare, cook and present their menu. Both Sam and Owen won a bronze medal presented by TV personality and Chef Brian Turner.

Sam’s Menu:

Bombay Lentil, Parsnip & Apple Soup with Coriander and Garlic Naan

Honey, Lemon and Mustard Glazed Chicken

Asparagus and Mushroom Risotto

Parma Ham Shards

Owen’s Menu:

Moroccan Spiced Cauliflower & Almond Soup with Spicy Flat Bread

Moroccan Chicken with Spinach and Chickpea

Couscous Filo Parcel

Courgette Timbale
