Work of FdA Film and Photography student Diana Dunn has been selected by internationally renowned photographer Rankin to appear in This is Britain. Published on 17th November 2017 – BBC Children in Need 2017 Appeal day – This is Britain is available to buy for £25 with all profits donated to BBC Children in Need.
Fronted by Rankin, the premise behind This is Britain was as simple as it was ambitious: to capture the essence of a day-in-the-life of the people and communities that make up our nation. The faces and places, moments and rituals, at work and at play – as shot by thousands of everyday people going about their daily lives over a long weekend in October. You can view Diana’s work below.
Rankin selected the most engaging 300 images from the tens of thousands submitted. These now appear alongside additional images taken by some of the nation’s leading photographers and photojournalists, including David Montgomery, Alex Lake, Tracey Welch and Paul Postle.
The book has 14 chapters that reflect the passage of the day, from the waking hour to bedtime and everything in-between. Each chapter features an introduction from a leading personality, including: Lorraine Kelly OBE, Rev. Richard Coles, Piers Morgan, Jeremy Vine, Judge Robert Rinder, Denise Van Outen, Ade Adepitan MBE, Kelly Hoppen MBE, Ore Oduba, Nick Hewer, Pixie Lott, Ben Fogle, Spencer Matthews and Ellie Simmonds OBE.
The result amounts to a photographic state-of-the-nation self-portrait by the people, of the people and for the people of Great Britain.
