South Devon College Roofing and Tiling student Ethan Howe (18, Plymouth) was one of the highest scoring competitors from this year’s SkillBuild competition, qualifying for the UK National Finals. Ethan’s work placement is with Stormforce Roofing based in Plymouth.
A team of expert judges marked Ethan’s competition piece, he was one of over 100 competitors who took part in the South West regional heats of Skillbuild in April this year. Ethan won Bronze in the Senior Roof Slating and Tiling category achieving one of the highest scores in the Country.
Delivered by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), SkillBuild is the largest multi-trade competition in the UK for construction trainees and apprentices and has been running for over 45 years.
The National Final will take place at The Skills Show, at the NEC in Birmingham from 16 – 18 November where the winners from each regional heat will compete for the prestigious national title, and the chance to compete in the EuroSkills final in Budapest 2018 and subsequently the WorldSkills final in Kazan, Russia in 2019.
