South Devon High School has cause for celebration today as pupils collected their GCSE results. Many students exceeded their targets and are now looking forward to progressing into further study.
There were numerous success stories throughout as pupils excelled over a range of core subject areas, including English, Maths and Science, alongside a personalised choice of specialist technical qualifications. They can now look forward to beginning the next stage of their chosen path, with their GCSE results forming the foundation for further success and a gateway to further education.
Lucy Branton (16, Paignton) Lucy worked very hard to achieve fantastic GCSE results including a grade 9 in English. She said, “The one-to-one support has been incredible; the teachers encouraged me and provided lots of support. The High School has excellent facilities and the exact courses I wanted to do.” Lucy hopes to study English Language or Psychology at University one day. |
Morgan Dowell (16, Paignton) Morgan achieved fantastic grades at grade 4/C and above in his GCSEs including an A in art and design. Morgan plans to enrol onto an engineering course at South Devon College with the aim of progressing to university. |
Keiron Coysh (16, Totnes) Keiron was excited to see his results this morning gaining grade C/4 and above across the board. He said, “I didn’t like my previous schools because they didn’t understand me but the staff here didn’t give up on me; it’s different here the help and support is much better.” |
Bhuvaneshvari Gunasekara (16, Brixham) Bhuvaneshvari was excited to open her envelope this morning and was pleased with her GCSE results. Her ambition is to become an illustrator or a concept designer, her A in Art and Design has provided her with the stepping-stone to pursue her dream career. |
Matt Burrows, Head of South Devon High School said, “I am delighted with the achievements of our pupils and the positive progress they have made. It has been wonderful to see them thrive within the School. The results are an excellent reward for all the pupils’ hard work and it is a testament to the outstanding support and guidance provided by their teachers. Pupils can now look forward to their exciting next steps, with many progressing to A Levels or technical courses at South Devon College.”
