South Devon College students have cause for celebration after collecting their A Level results today. The 16-18-year-olds worked very hard to achieve an exceptional 100% overall pass rate.
There were numerous success stories throughout the College as students from across Devon excelled over a range of subjects, the majority earning high A*- C grades. After the anxious wait, students can now look forward to beginning the next stage of their academic or professional career, with their A Level results forming the foundation for further success.
Joshua Blackmore (17, from Torquay) received his AS Level results this morning. He achieved a fantastic A, A, A, B in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science. Joshua is currently at a work placement at Oclaro Technology LTD. Joshua was very pleased with his results and said, “The tutors at College are always there to challenge my knowledge and understanding of the subjects, I hope to study a degree at Exeter University following my A Levels next year.”
Sophie Hodson (18, from Torquay) achieved brilliant results gaining A*, A*, A, in A Level Biology, Media Studies, Chemistry and a C in AS Art. Sophie is going to study BSc Biochemistry at the University of Exeter and hopes to study a Master’s degree and PHD in Biomedical/Genetic research. Sophie said, “I wanted a challenge so I decided to do A Levels after my GCSEs. I chose South Devon College as I knew it was high-performing and I wanted a change from school.” | |
Lauren Edwards (19, from Dartmouth) Lauren collected her results for her AS Levels and achieved an A in Sociology, an A in History and an A in Government and Politics. She hopes to study History and Jewish Studies at the University of Oxford or University College London. | |
Jasper-Marc Vicente (18, from Paignton) is hoping to progress to study Medicine after achieving B grades across all of his A Level subjects in Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. | |
Jess McCaig (17, from Paignton) hopes to study Marketing at the University of Reading having achieved brilliant results, gaining A,B,C in Media Studies, Sociology and English Language. | |
Tommy James, (18, from Torquay) Tommy is planning to study a degree in film at university after gaining A,A,B,C in Film Studies, Media Studies, Extended Project and Creative Writing. |

Eleanor Conroy, (19, from Torquay) Eleanor was delighted to receive A, A, B, B in Psychology, Sociology, Biology and Core Mathematics, her next step will be to study a degree in Human Biology at Bath Spa University and she hopes to pursue a career in scientific research. |
Principal of South Devon College, Stephen Criddle said, “Congratulations to our A Level students, the results achieved today are a testament to all of their hard work and dedication leading up to this key stage. The results really underpin great next step progression choices for those choosing to continue to study at University Centres locally or further afield in higher education or take up apprenticeship and other career routes.
